New Media

T he CRC New Media Campaign Project used new media tools and strategies to promote substance abuse and HIV prevention messages to African-American women and men ages 25-44 who are at-risk for substance abuse and HIV. The new media campaign relied heavily on the use of peer mentors and coaches to recruit and market the New Media Campaign to the populations of focus.

The strategies/interventions to be used include extensive community brief HIV prevention outreach and mobilization with peer mentors and coaches, community partners and stakeholders, intensive and evidence-based prevention intervention, community mental health engagement and referrals for participants in need of substance abuse and mental health treatment, HIV Rapid testing, counseling, and referrals primarily through use of the evidence-based model Community PROMISE.
